Black Friday Boom – Is Your Website Ready?

Black Friday has established itself as one of the largest annual peaks in retailing.

Black Friday has established itself as one of the largest annual peaks in retailing.  A large proportion of that shopping peak will be online and many of the largest online retailers will be girding their cyber-loins for the expected rush of business.  Gaining an edge over your competition is an obvious focus for businesses and a slow or unresponsive site just won’t do, especially over the Black Friday shopping boom. Let’s face it – if an online shopper doesn’t get a response from a web site, they will go elsewhere.

This is just one example of how online trading can be affected by DDoS attacks. Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks occur when a company’s server becomes flooded with artificially generated requests built to overwhelm the system, meaning it cannot process the authentic ones.

The first shocking truth behind many of the DDoS attacks is that the technical requirements to conduct such attacks is virtually nil.  Bureau services readily advertise their ability and low prices in conducting DDoS attacks especially at this time of year.  Many free tools exist on the Internet, used to conduct such onslaughts; they have simple point and shoot interfaces that anybody can use.

The second shocking truth is that it does not have to be this way! Protection from DDoS attacks could not be easier, at least for Node4 customers. Providing an anti-DDoS service like N4Protect DDoS allows us to strip out the volumetric noise of the attack and return clean and legitimate network traffic back to the customer’s system.  Providing simple, low cost OPEX solutions for our customers is our mantra “enabling business to do business”, we have the services to enable our customers to maximise their opportunities, not just this Black Friday but every day of the year.
